It is also our church’s commitment to showing up for each other in times of need that motivates our use of the John 3:16 Benevolence Fund. Intended to assist people in crisis or immediate financial need, the Benevolence Fund’s use is guided by the pastors and Missions Committee. Our commitment to affordable housing, particularly among our downtown neighbors, has shaped our use of these funds, primarily directing them for rent, mortgage, or utilities assistance for those in need. We’ve also used benevolence dollars to create food and personal care bags for our neighbors experiencing homelessness, assisted in medical debt situations, and other needs as they arise. Most importantly, these dollars help us to be able to say “yes” when help is requested or needed.
