Serve Together

| August 22nd, 2024

Kelly Auditorium, the room beneath our sanctuary, has served many purposes this summer. It has hosted deacon meetings and a quarterly church conference. It has featured a churchwide Bible Study series on climate justice and creation care featuring leading voices in those fields. It has provided space for various fellowship meals. It has hosted our First Films movie series and provided a space for a hymn sing.

In these ways and more, Kelly Auditorium serves as a true, multi-use space.

On Saturday, August 24 Kelly Auditorium will add another “use” to this multi-use space. The space will be transformed into a missions hub for the Serve Together churchwide missions day. We’ll begin the day with prayer and learn more about missions at First on Fifth. Members of all ages will then serve together by packing boxes of food for Crisis Control, preparing school supplies and encouragement letters for teachers at Ashley Academy, and preparing toiletry kits for homeless neighbors. Another group will go off-site for service projects at the Dwelling.

The event will conclude with a celebration meal where we will hear from representatives from local organizations like Crisis Control, City with Dwellings, and more. We will conclude by celebrating Serving Our Savior ramp ministry’s completion of their 1,500th ramp build.

There has been an outpouring of excitement for this event with over 75 people signed up to serve. Even though registrations for lunch have closed, you can still participate in the service projects and enjoy fellowship as we serve together. Hope to see you at Serve Together! Please let me know if you have any questions.
