Promotion Sunday

| August 14th, 2025

Each year, Promotion Sunday marks an exciting time in the life of our church family — a time when our children and youth officially “move up” to their next Sunday School class. Whether they’re entering Kindergarten, starting middle school, or stepping into the high school ministry, this transition represents far more than just a change of classroom. It’s a celebration of spiritual growth, new beginnings, and the faithful guidance of our church community.

From wide-eyed preschoolers to confident teens, every student is on a unique journey of discovering God’s love, truth, and purpose for their lives. As they step into new classes, they’re not only learning more about the Bible — they’re forming lifelong relationships, gaining mentors, and deepening their identity as followers of Christ.

So why does promotion Sunday matter so much in the life of our church?

  • It affirms spiritual growth: Just as schools mark academic milestones, we recognize and affirm each student’s growth in faith and understanding.
  • It encourages connection: Moving to a new class creates opportunities to build new friendships and grow under the guidance of loving, age-appropriate leaders.
  • It strengthens our church family: When we celebrate together, we remind our kids that they are seen, supported, and surrounded by a church that cares deeply for them.

I invite you to encourage our children and youth as they promote to their new spaces, pray for them, and encourage their leaders. Let them know we’re excited for what God will do in and through them this year.

Let’s be a church that celebrates every step of spiritual growth — big or small. Promotion Sunday is more than a milestone — it’s a moment to celebrate our growth as disciples of Jesus.  As you read this, you may not be promoting to a new class, but I invite you to pause and think about how you, too, will grow in your faith this year as our children and youth model this for us at the start of the new school year.

You are loved!
