Let us pray.
Gracious God we thank you for this time to gather as a community who- despite our differences – remain united in a hope for our world that is bound by love and justice.
We ask this morning that you help guide our actions so that this hope can be realized and every being of your creation can experience the radical love of the divine.
God, In the midst of a contentious political season we pray for wisdom and clarity. Help us to avoid apathy, help us to acknowledge our echo chambers, and guide us into relationship with those who do not see the world as we do – not so that we may critique or even try to change, but so that we may learn and explore new possibilities of belonging together.
God In the midst of unpredictable natural destruction in the Western part of our beloved state, in Florida, and across the world, we pray for resilience, strength, patience, and compassion. As misinformation pours into and out of these areas of destructions, help us be slow to assume – help us to be a clarifying voice that does not belittle, but serves as a steadying presence in the midst of unthinkable trauma and loss.
God this morning we pray for our world – the decisions of all nations, tribes, and states. Help us to understand that your world doesn’t require conflict and that a peace is possible. Help us not to celebrate death as a victory when conflict arise and, yet, help us process evil when it presents itself in the flesh.
God we come to you this morning each with our concerns. Some facing illness, some dealing with loss, others in a moment of transition – not sure what tomorrow will bring. God be with us – give us peace and help us remember that we are not alone. For you are always with us and each of us have each other.
And with this God help us Press onward in Hope, love, and Justice pursuing a better world where all your creation can flourish together. It is in this vision, this call, that we come together this morning to pray as one community the prayer you’ve taught us to pray.
Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
