Creator God,

Yesterday I saw a picture of a red lipped batfish that walks on the ocean floor.  You are so wonderful creator God.  This world is so wonderful, so diverse, so fantastic.  And you’ve created us, your beloved.  It’s difficult for us to think of ourselves as wonderful, diverse, and so fantastic.  You are with us each day of our lives: sustaining, guiding, providing for us.

We are grateful that you love us like that.  Yet I have to admit, Lord, we are a fickle people.  We forget all your provisions, all your help, your wisdom, this fabulous world you’ve created for us to live in.  Forgive us Lord for how quickly we forget about you as we go thru our daily lives, we’re busy and self-absorbed.  Forgive us for how we treat all those not like us, how we treat the environment… it’s too uncomfortable, takes too much time to change our ways.  Oh Lord, forgive us

As you well know, We’re a fearful people Lord.  So many of us are going thru difficult times: illness, grief, financial issues, we’re fearful for children, grandchildren., our future. Under our routines of daily life, we live in fear.  We know you’re creator God, a very big God who created many solar systems and life under the sea that we’re still discovering!

When it comes to our nation’s government and the upcoming elections…the possibilities make us quake. We ask for your wisdom and direction for all our elected officials, and for us as we vote. Preserve our republic/our democracy.  May we find our peace in you.

So forgive our unbelief in you, the God who loves us and the whole world.  Thank you for your belief in us…to be your love in the world.  Help us to be mindful of you and your quiet nudges.  Help us to see, really see the needs of those around us and then to have the courage to follow thru and minister to them.  So many lonely people, so much poverty, so many hurting.  May we interrupt our days to care about them.

Lord, thank you for this church and the friendships we share.

Thank you for our pastor who preaches rich, deep sermons and ministers who care about us and each other.  It is in this place that we remember your power, your grace, your love for us  so that we in turn may be full of your power, your grace, your love for the world.

May we fulfill the prayer that Jesus prayed…. Our father who art in heaven…
