Creating God,
Maker of heaven and earth,
You loved the the earth enough to become part of it
To breathe the air, touch the soil, feel the warmth of the sun
to taste taste and see with a child’s eyes
Open to the wonders of creation
Liberating God,
Deliverer of justice to the oppressed
You loved the earth enough to challenge it
To ask why some are free and others held captive
To question why some are viewed as less while others are valued as more
To wonder why some feast while others grasp for crumbs
And you made yourself lowly to reveal your liberating love
Revealing God,
You loved this world enough to tell the truth
And to fill our hearts and minds with the search for truth
From Abraham and Sarah’s search for new home
To the Magi’s search for a distant star
You provide signposts along the way
And even made yourself flesh—truth incarnate—to lead our souls to you
Healing God,
Lifter of weary heads and restorer of broken spirits
You entered a world full of sickness and suffering
Loved it and embraced it, through Jesus the healer
Restoring sight and sound, giving hope to those facing loss
And raising the dead to life—that lives may be made whole
and dwell in the fullness of new humanity
We pray this in the name of Jesus the Christ—Son of Man and Son of God—who loved this world enough to walk among us, teaching us to pray, saying:
Our Father who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For this is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever amen.
