God of all creation.
On this Ascension Sunday, we are reminded that you lifted Christ up, not to abandon the world, but to fill all things with your presence. So we lift our prayers to you, trusting that heaven and earth are forever joined in love.

We pray this morning for the church around the world, that we may be witnesses of hope, compassion, and justice. We pray that we may follow Christ not by standing still and staring upward, but by serving boldly here on earth and embodying your Love.

We pray for the nations of the world, for places torn by war, violence, fear, and political division. We pray for leaders entrusted with power, that they may choose wisdom over pride and peace over domination. Teach us to recognize our shared humanity.

We especially pray this morning for all who feel forgotten, weary, or alone; for those struggling with anxiety, grief, depression, illness, addiction, or financial stress; for caregivers, healthcare workers, teachers, and all who carry invisible burdens. May the risen Christ draw near to them with comfort and strength.

For this community gathered today as First on Fifth, we pray for our families, friends, neighbors, and those with whom we disagree. We give thanks for our children and youth and the many ways they teach us. We give thanks for all generations and the many ways they share their wisdom so that we can continue to become people who reflect your love every day in this world.

God of Ascension,
Christ has gone ahead of us, opening the way toward hope beyond fear and life beyond death. Send your Spirit upon us now, that we may live as people of resurrection, grounded in love, courageous in compassion, and faithful in the work of Love.

We pray this in the name of the One who is risen and has ascended, Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray saying…
