Gracious and faithful God,
Your mercies are new every morning; Your steadfast love never ceases, and Your compassion does not fail. In a world that so often forgets, we pause to remember our veterans. We remember those who have carried those heavy burdens in service to others—those who have risked and sacrificed in times of conflict, and those who still carry wounds that are unseen. We remember the countless lives touched by the wars in our world—especially those who mourn and those who struggle to begin again and again.

God of peace and justice, we confess that violence remains woven into the story of humanity. Like the psalmist who sat by the rivers of Babylon and wept, we too know what it is to grieve for what has been lost— for communities divided, for lives uprooted, for a world not yet made whole. And yet even in our lament, You are near. You hear the cry of the weary, You bind up the brokenhearted, and You remind us that compassion is stronger than fear.

So teach us, O God, to live as people of mercy. Move us beyond remembrance to renewal, to care for those who suffer, to stand with those who seek healing and justice, to build a peace that begins in our own hearts and reaches outward to the world.

And when we grow tired or cynical, remind us again of Your promise that Your love does not end, that Your mercy is new every morning, that hope can rise even from the ashes.

Great is Your faithfulness, O God. Faithful to the earth, faithful to Your people, faithful still to us.

We pray in the name of the One who came not to conquer but to heal, Jesus Christ, the one who taught us to pray saying…Our Father…
