Reverend David Williamson serves as Associate Pastor for Worship, Arts, and Administration. He joined the staff of First Baptist Church in 1998 after almost 20 years of ministry in Dallas, Texas.
David’s favorite scriptures are the Psalms and the Sermon on the Mount and considers them vital and central to the life of faith. He enjoys leading the Tuesday Morning Devotional Classics group in studying the writings of the spiritual giants of our faith, including Richard Rohr, Barbara Brown Taylor, Henri Nouwen, Abraham Joshua Heschel, and Thomas Merton.
In the FBC Arts Ministry David directs the Sanctuary Choir and the Chancel Ringers Handbell Choir. He has conducted numerous special musical performances including the annual Lessons and Carols Service presented by the Sanctuary Choir and guest musicians from throughout the Winston-Salem area. For the past twenty-five years David has served as the Chorus Master of the Messiah Community Chorus for Winston-Salem’s annual presentation of Handel’s Messiah which is performed each December at Reynolds Auditorium.
David earned a Bachelor of Music from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and a Master of Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
