What can Dolly Parton teach us about the Bible, and what might the Bible help us hear in Dolly’s songs?
Join Rev. Mary Thomas Kaylor for a four-week conversation exploring the surprising connections between beloved songs by Dolly Parton and the enduring questions of scripture. Each session will bring a song into conversation with a biblical passage, alongside reflections from Dolly about her songwriting, theological insights, and opportunities for personal reflection and shared discussion.
Together, we’ll explore belonging and human dignity through “Coat of Many Colors,” spiritual curiosity through “The Seeker,” hope in difficult seasons through “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” and the courage to love through “Love Is Like a Butterfly.”
Everyone is welcome! No musical expertise or particular level of biblical knowledge is needed. Bring your questions, your experiences, and your willingness to listen.
We will meet on Zoom from 12- 1 p.m. on Thursdays beginning October 29. There’s no need to RSVP; just join us via the Zoom in your newsletter. See Mary with any questions.
