Celebrating Pride, Living Our Faith

| June 11th, 2026

Throughout the Gospels, we find Jesus consistently widening the circle. He welcomed those who had been excluded, shared meals with those others avoided, and reminded people again and again that God’s love extends far beyond the boundaries we often create. His ministry was marked by hospitality, compassion, and a deep commitment to ensuring that everyone knew they belonged.

Here at First on Fifth, we seek to embody that same spirit of welcome, and our yearly presence in the Winston-Salem Pride Festival is just one of many ways we do that. Pride offers us an opportunity to celebrate our LGBTQ+ members and neighbors, build relationships within the broader community, and share the message that all people are worthy of love, dignity, and belonging and that God’s love is for everyone.

The Community Engagement Ministry Team invites you to be a part of our First on Fifth group at the Winston-Salem Pride Festival on Saturday, June 13. We will begin the day by hosting a breakfast on the front lawn at 9:00 a.m. for sister churches participating in the parade. Following breakfast, we will walk together in the Pride Parade at 10:00 a.m. and then staff our church booth throughout the Pride Festival until 6:00 p.m.

Whether you are able to join us for the entire day or just a portion of it, your presence matters. Offering hospitality, walking alongside our neighbors, sharing conversations at our booth, and simply showing up as a community of faith are meaningful ways to live out the love and welcome of Christ.

We hope you will consider being part of this special day. Sign up here to volunteer and join us as we celebrate, connect, and continue the work of building a community where all people know they are beloved.
