A Singing People

| April 16th, 2026

What a year this has been celebrating the 100th anniversary of our church home on Fifth Street! It is difficult to imagine the variety and sheer number of events that have filled this space in a century.  One of the most constant has been worship.  With rare exception our congregation has gathered weekly for corporate worship.  And most every worship service has included the music of our faith. We are a singing people!

This Sunday at 5pm our sanctuary will be filled with music as the Sanctuary Choir presents a worship concert featuring great choral anthems and hymns, many of which have been sung in our sanctuary over the past century. The Sanctuary Choir will be joined by a guest orchestra made up of gifted musicians from the Winston-Salem community.  What a fitting way to celebrate and bless this holy space.

It has been said that we need a holy place to teach us that all places are holy.  Our sanctuary has been just such a place.  Every time we gather I am reminded of the holiness of God and the holiness of all that God has created.  Let us again be reminded as we gather this Sunday in celebration and thanksgiving!

Peace and all things good,

David
