Connecting Beyond the Walls
WELCOME TO THE DAILY DOSE!
Today’s word of hope comes from our own Nikki Byers,
Interim Minister for Missions.
Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute.
Speak out, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor.
Proverbs 31: 8-9
There are many in our community whose voices are either silent or muted.
Who are they?
There are many in our community whose voices are either silent or muted.
Who are they?
I think we often take for granted the power we have by simply using our voices to speak on behalf of someone.
*Maybe we need to speak up for those in Crystal Towers who have bed bugs, poor lighting around the building or a garden in need of attention.
*Maybe for those whose food stamps are inadequate to feed their families.
*Maybe for those children whose parents have no power to change their school to one that is high performing.
*Maybe for those who cannot obtain adequate transportation to a job.
*Maybe for those who work three jobs and it is still not a living wage.
*Maybe for those who cannot afford childcare for a job possibility.
*Maybe for those who cannot afford health insurance.
Let us be attuned every day to those who cannot speak. And let us use our voices.
The organization I am highlighting this week has a very unique mission and one that provides youth with tools to know and amplify their voices in our community. Listen to this interview with Lynn Rhoades, who is the executive director for Authoring Action and a member of First Baptist Church.
