Connecting Beyond the Walls
WELCOME TO THE DAILY DOSE!
Today’s word of hope comes to us from our own Rev. Brent Greene, interim minister of discipleship.
Place Me Like A Seal
As I prayed and tried to prepare to write today’s daily dose, I honestly thought to myself…. “I can’t do another thing. I just can’t.”
The good news is that I don’t have to. We don’t have to “do another thing.” We are not made to do, to create, to work, to fix, to make something every minute of every day. We are loved, called to love – God and neighbors, and to rest in God’s love.
I invite you to sit, to rest, to read and reflect on today’s lectionary passages. Take some time just to be with Christ our Savior. What a gift to feast on the words of our loving God! You can read all of today’s texts by clicking April 18 Scripture Passages or you can sign up to receive daily readings by e-mail at http://www.dailylectionary.org/
Here is one of today’s scripture passages along with a few links for listening to a variety of arrangements of this beautiful text.
Song of Songs 8:6-7 New International Version (NIV)
6 Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm;for love is as strong as death, its jealousy[a] unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.[b] 7 Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it[c] would be utterly scorned.
