Lent and Holy Week at FirstĀ Baptist Church on Fifth
Together in worship this season, we will go with Jesus into the landscapes of Lent. Our Lenten daily devotional will link scripture and Christian practices with the poetry of Mary Oliver, one who meets God in the scenery of this world. Our Wednesday faith formation will guide us through the Psalms, those ancient songs that give us a deep sense of place and possibility for how and where God can be found. And through it all, we will trust God’s promise that these landscapes can be for us, individually and communally, like the ecotone–that flourishing region of transition between two phases of life — where life is filled with the possibility of springtime, abundant with hope for resurrection.
