“O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.”
These words from 1 Chronicles ground us in gratitude as we at First Baptist on Fifth approach the conclusion of our Phase One building project and the one year anniversary of our giving to its capital campaign, “A Boundless Home: Building Beyond Walls.” Through planning and conversation, presentation and discernment, demolition and reconstruction, God’s steadfast love has surrounded us in each season. The project itself will conclude under budget and free of major issues, successfully enabling us to do exactly what we’ve said we want to do: offer care to our sacred space now, so that we can then focus the very best of our energies in service to God, to one another, and to the community.
We are going to give thanks for God’s steadfast love and mark this particular ending with a churchwide day of celebration on Sunday, November 24! The morning will unfold as follows:
9:00am Pot-luck breakfast in Kelly Auditorium with photos, videos, and stories from the project; please bring a dish to share!
9:45am Dedication of the new ramp and prayer room
10:30am Worship with special moments of recognition and celebration
Upon the conclusion of worship, we invite anyone who is willing and able to help pull out all the Christmas decorations and begin to set these up. A brief pizza lunch will be provided!
Because this will be a special day in the life of our church, we encourage everyone to make your plans now to be a part of the celebration! If there are friends of yours whose rhythms of life make them unable to physically come to worship on a regular basis, please consider picking them up and bringing them with you to church for this special occasion.
In this moment and all to come, we gather in gratitude to God from whom all blessings flow!
