‘Common Table’ Winter Bible Study with Pastor Emily
Wednesdays, 12:00-1:15pm, Ammons-Lolley Commons
January 16 – February 27
This winter, all are invited to take their lunch hour, bring a lunch and a healthy measure of curiosity, and share together in fellowship and Bible study with Pastor Emily and one another as we delve into the prophet Micah and his writings in scripture. Gatherings will occur in the Ammons-Lolley Commons on Wednesdays from 12:00-1:15pm. Around our common table, we’ll share in conversation about the particular scripture for the day, walking through a passage verse by verse with attention given to its historical context, textual translation, theological significance, and meaning for our lives.
For our winter study, our Common Table Bible Study will focus on the Old Testament prophet Micah, one who spoke words of judgment and words of promise to reveal God’s justice for the world. These ancient words hold contemporary meaning for our church, as we seek to live as a community of bold love and boundless compassion right in the heart of the city. Each week, we’ll read a chapter of Micah together, wondering how a deeper understanding of scripture will impact our own prophetic imagination as individuals and a community. Come and join us!
