Accessing Our Church House During Demolition
By now you know that the entirety of our back parking lot will be closed off for the duration of asbestos abatement and demolition of Buildings B & C, a period of time to last a total of 10-12 weeks.
As such and after helpful conversations with many of you, access to ground floor entryways in Building A have shifted a bit. Please make note of the following changes:
There are three ground-level entryways into our church building – two doors from the breezeway, and one on the Spruce Street side between Kelly Auditorium and the Baraca Room. All three doors can be used during the week for buzzing in or entering a keypad code. Handicapped access is available through the breezeway level door on the Poplar Street side of the church as well as the door on the Spruce Street side. Keep watching for all three doors to offer handicapped accessibility in the coming weeks!
- The Spruce Street-side parking spot right up against the building next to the dumpster is available as a drop-off spot for those who need ease of access to the building. Should you be transporting someone with mobility challenges to FBC on a Sunday morning, please pull in here to do so.
- The Deacons and staff are working hard to create permanent signage that will offer an easy indication of entry points into the building, parking around the property, and internal and external wayfinding throughout. Until then, temporary signs should offer clarity as you and our guests move around the building. Please notify a church staff member if you have questions!
Finally, inside the building, you’ll notice that all the one-seater restrooms in Building A are now available for anyone to use. Should you be looking for these facilities, there are two on the ground floor, one on the second floor, and two on the third floor. Two toilets for women’s use only remain just outside the Bridal Suite on the ground floor. Within a few months, we will be adding three more of these family restrooms with handicapped accessibility, two in the Sanctuary narthex and one more on the second floor.
Thank you for your continued flexibility as we navigate this season of construction together!
