This week around the church house…
Pops of shiny copper began appearing on the dome this week, as roofing crews began to install the copper on the roof! This work is slow going, but the good folks from Baker Roofing have been working steadily on the task.
You read in last week’s Building Update that because of the progress on the back part of our lot, a date for the electrical shutdown of the building is nearing! This is necessary to install the new transformer and electrical panels that will make our building more sustainable and energy-efficient. The date for the shutdown has just been confirmed and will be Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12. Your staff, House & Grounds Committee, and Personnel Committee will be working diligently to keep the operations of the church moving smoothly during this brief interruption! More details will be forthcoming.
As all the dirt has now come in on the back lot, parking lot drainage and electrical underground have started this week! We’re prepared to be interrupted by rain in the days to come.
On the tower this week, the restoration contractor has been doing the repointing work of the building. Next to follow will be repairs of the terra cotta.
Thanks for your patience and flexibility in this season of transition!
