Wednesdays, March 13 – May 1, 6:15 p.m. in Kelly Auditorium + a special “Becoming” event with the Baxleys
on Saturday, March 30, 4:00 p.m.

“Therefore since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,” says the writer of Hebrews, “let us run the race of faith set before us.” So great is our cloud, dear church! Saints that have gone before us, saints right here among us, and saints to come combine to form the cloud, cheering us on as we become the men and women, boys and girls, the church God would have us to be.

The cloud of witnesses that envelops First Baptist are witnesses who are becoming — never done or complete, but always available to God’s work in their life. This spring, we will hear from a number of them as they tell stories of their own becoming. We’ll do so on Wednesday nights, March 13 through May 1, 6:15-7:15 pm in Kelly Auditorium.

On Saturday, March 30 at 4:00 pm, we’ll also gather for a special afternoon of storytelling with John, Nancy, and Paul Baxley called “Becoming Baxley,” hearing from this dear family about their journeys of faith and how Paul is preparing to step into his role as our new Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Executive Coordinator.

Some stories of faith will be more general, others more specific to the four priorities for mission and ministry our church is leaning into. All will give us a glimpse into the ways that God is perpetually inviting and encouraging God’s people, we who are saints-in-progress, saints becoming a people transformed.
