Holy Week & Easter at First on Fifth
Holy Week Stations of the Cross
March 29 – April 2, Monday through Friday, 11:00am-1:00pm, Sanctuary
We welcome members and guests from the community for a time of Holy Week reflection and prayer to walk the Stations of the Cross around the perimeter of the Sanctuary. These stations will track the scriptural narrative of the final hours of Jesus’ life with image, sound, reflection, and multi-sensory engagement. A video path of the stations will be made available online during Holy Week.
Participants should plan to enter the building through the front steps or through either door facing the back parking lot. As you ascend to the 2nd floor, please enter the Sanctuary on the Spruce Street side door. You will be invited to make your way around the room, by pausing at each window for reflection and moving forward once the person in front of you has moved to the next station. No more than 25 people will be allowed in the room at any given time. Ushers at each door will monitor the occupancy to stay below that threshold. We are seeking 3-4 volunteers each day to welcome folks to the Stations of the Cross; let David Williamson (dwilliamson@firstonfifth.org) know if you are willing to serve in this way!
Maundy Thursday Blessing & Communion
April 1, Thursday, 3:00-7:00pm, Sanctuary and online
We welcome all who are interested in a brief time of blessing and communion with the pastors to join us in-person or online via Zoom on Maundy Thursday, April 1. RSVP for a time slot through the Sign-up Genius here, or by calling or emailing Emily Hull McGee (ehullmcgee@firstonfifth.org) to request your 20-minute time slot.
In-person participants should plan to enter the building through either door facing the back parking lot. As you ascend to the 2nd floor, please enter the Sanctuary on the Spruce Street side door. A pastor will be there to greet you and welcome you in for your time of blessing and communion.
Easter Celebration
April 4, 10:30am, Plaza of 500 West Fifth & the church house front steps
We look forward to gathering outside for a community Easter celebration at 10:30am on Easter Sunday morning! We will do so on the plaza of 500 West Fifth and will enjoy an abbreviated time of worship and fellowship with one another. Upon the conclusion of our worship, participants are invited to the front steps to add flowers to the flowering cross and also to take home a plant from the front steps as part of the Vital Worship Group’s community-wide celebration of new life. The church will provide a limited number of folding chairs for members who need them. We encourage participants to bring their own chairs if they would like.
Our prerecorded Easter video will be available as it is each week, on YouTube and Facebook, for folks who prefer to worship at home. This in-person time of worship will be available on Facebook later in the day on Easter.
