Ministry Priorities

Becoming a teaching and learning church

The Choral Scholars ministry will further both objectives – teaching and learning. The Sanctuary Choir will learn from and benefit from the musical training these students are receiving at their academic institutions.  Simultaneously our church will provide experience/training in church music leadership, thus complimenting their academic training.  These gifted students will enhance and strengthen our choral music ministry as they explore church music and church music leadership in an encouraging, supportive environment.

Grow in number and faithfulness

As a support to our initiative to grow in number and faithfulness, the Choral Scholar ministry will expand the reach of our congregation to local college campuses. By having these young scholars with us, we will grow not only by their presence among us, but also by their visiting families and friends who may join us throughout the school year.  Their involvement in the music ministry of First Baptist Church will offer regular, sustained opportunities for exposure to the Christian faith as we learn together what it means to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
